Oh my goodness! I can't believe how long it's taking me to recover from working those nights. This morning, I woke up at 2:20 and couldn't fall back asleep. I can't afford to do that tonight; I work two jobs tomorrow. So, it's a "stay up as late as possible" game again. Good thing I haven't watched any TV except New Girl this past week, so I have plenty to watch tonight.
A short story before I get into this week's TV. The other night, I came home from work hungry and thirsty but didn't have any cold drinks. I've learned that the plastic pink cups we keep on the top shelf are large enough to hold ice and an entire 12oz can of whatever I have, so I was up up up on tiptoes trying to knock one far enough forward to grab it when a heavy-duty plastic cut came careening off the shelf and landed right on my eye. After the pain had cleared enough for my to think, my first thought was "Did I just give myself a black eye?" The answer, thankfully, is no. But I did give myself a rather large goose egg right above my eye, starting where my eyebrow starts and going halfway up my forehead. If that wasn't bad enough, today, I swung open the car door and stepped out, right into the door that had started to swing right back. I bruised right above the same eye, on the far side. So now I have two different and distinct bruises over my right eye.
New Girl I am so glad I watched this the other day when I was trying to stay awake. It would have been crazy awkward to watch this episode with my mom. Yeah. The Schmidt, Nick and Jess triangle, Winston's obsession with getting his cat laid (and the weird conversation with the other cat owner). Not the best episode (in fact, I would call it bad) but every bunch has at least one bad apple, right? (even Firefly has that episode with the hookers)
The Big Bang Theory We watched this live as part of my birthday celebration (that's right, my birthday's today!) Yeah. This was exceedingly funny, except for the last little bit with Leonard's mother. But both main plot lines were good, Shamey more so than the other. And the little subplots were amusing as well. Over dinner (before watching the show), my family and I were all saying that the show has only gotten better and this episode did nothing to dent that. The only downside was that the Indiana Jones theme is still stuck in my head.
Castle Eh episode overall. I'm kind of going "eh" on the series but, well, I need my lighthearted murder mystery some way and Psych's not coming back till December. The one thing I have to say is that the Castle-Beckett relationship does sometimes surprise me. The engagement at the beginning of this season did startle me and the end of this episode gave me a feeling of mild surprise. It was obvious Castle was getting ready to move to DC; it was obvious Kate wasn't going to stay in DC (in fact, I expected her to tell Castle she was going to quit when he brought up moving to DC) but I wasn't expecting her to get fired, although, in retrospect, I should have seen that coming. I'm going to blame sleep deprivation for missing that.
Agents of SHIELD Okay. I had a crazy panic moment when it wasn't listed as "Agents..." in my DVR and instead "Marvel's...". But I found it and Mom gave me a bit of a look for "overreacting". I need my superhero fix and I much prefer to get it on the big TV if I can; if it had been erased, I'd have been watching Sleepy Hollow or Once Upon a Time instead and I really, really wanted my superhero fix (not that I didn't spend more time than I could afford exploring my new account on Marvel, compliments of my brothers). Yeah. Satisfied with this. The possible double-agent seemed to make a decision for SHIELD and the recurring Supervillian was created by Graviton. Yes! This is what I love!
